Email from Vasja Grubic about his CP ICC experience.

Hi, I haven't found any good working ICC editor, however I came across a similar solution that you've said - everything outside of gamut will cut off - it won't shift however. So basically a gradient becomes 2 or 3 colors that get cut of strange based on saturation, lightness etc (see attached image example and print example sketched). For some reason even if I go steps that you described - CP910 doesn't color profile image that way and it ends up getting ruined as before.
So on CP910 and Lightroom 5.6 I found that I can prevent that by working with the image like this:
1) open up the image
2) use soft proofing and your CP800 profile
3) fine tune the image to make it look how i want it
4) turn off soft proofing
5) go to print and choose CP800 profile (instead of managed by printer)
What this does from software perspective is - you can't affect the printer colors and printing in any way, but by doing this Lightroom will send him the image that's inside his color gamut (because we used CP800 profile) and it won't have any gradient problems whatsoever. I think maybe the profile can be tuned a bit more, but anyways doing it this way saved few of my images being ruined by gradient problem (especially nice blue sky, people with shirts that have strong colors, etc).
